Childrens Beds: Finding the Right Boy’s Bed

by admin on August 11, 2010

It’s probably one of the greatest challenges for your toddler at such an early time in his life, but changing beds, if done correctly need not be a great trauma. One of the best ways to tempt him out of his cosy crib is to appeal to his burgeoning spirit of adventure by choosing a fun new childrens bed just for him.

Getting the right bed

Your little boy is likely to be torn between the comfort of his old familiar baby identity and the new adventures that await him each morning as he grows and explores his world. So getting the balance of comfort and excitement can be a difficult job. There are some great childrens beds out there, but which one is right for your little boy?

Loft beds

Definitely for the adventurer, this bed will be for your little one if he is not nervous of heights. Don’t get a loft bed with a ladder until your child is at least 4 years old and has good motor skills. Have a look at childrens bunk beds. He can start off in on the bottom bunk. In a couple of years he can graduate to the top bunk and then you can convert the lower bunk for storage or extra seating. Low height loft beds can be with steps rather than ladders are available if you want to use this option straight away. But, beware getting anything too tall though and make sure that it is easy for him to climb in and out of. Kidsbedland.com offer a low height loft bed with a tent attached underneath for the perfect den. If your little boy likes his cosy cot, perhaps a den style bed, is the perfect compromise.

Theme beds

Theme beds for children can be pirate ship style beds, cars or cute animal head and footboards. Your budget will decide this one. If your kid is crazy about sports like football or soccer, you can find themed kids beds for these too. If you have money to spend, the choice is enormous. Beds styled as dump trucks and trains or great castles in the sky are just some of the fantasy boys beds available at castlebeds.com

Making the transition

Whatever bed you choose, give your toddler plenty of time to adjust to their new sleeping arrangements. Less hurry means less stress. So if you are expecting another baby and need to use your cot for the newborn, start this process some months in advance to avoid any trauma from your toddler. If you can, place their new bedroom furniture in the same place as their cot and use their familiar nursery bedding. If you want to change their rooms make an event of it, something to celebrate and have fun. A super new bed is a great way to get them excited rather than anxious about change.
